Mount Ararat (5137 m) is the highest peak in Turkey and Europe. It is a volcanic mountain formed from basalt and turns into andesite lava at approximately 4000 m. There is a glacier at its summit, Little Ararat on its eastern slope and Serdarbulak ridges at 3896 m. Mount Ararat has a magical appearance with its potential, glaciers, geological formations, people and snow-covered mountain meadows. The highest mountain in Türkiye, Ararat, has a legendary status due to its geological location and the belief that it is the final resting place of Noah’s Ark. This peak mentioned in the Bible has many names in different languages, the most common being Ararat and Kuh. Climbers staying in Doğubeyazıt can make their final preparations for the climb here and continue to Eli village by car. After water is provided here, the first campsite at 2800 m is reached in 7-8 hours. On the second day, after a 4-6 hour climb, the next campsite at an altitude of approximately 4200 m can be reached. Climbers must have crampons, ropes and ice axes. It takes approximately 8-10 hours to reach the summit of Mount Ararat and return from the first campsite at an altitude of 2800 m. It is mandatory to obtain permission to climb Mount Ararat and/or Little Mount Ararat and climbers must set off from the following points. Ascents to Mount Ararat can only be attempted from the surface section within the borders of the Doğubeyazıt district and the Doğubeyazıt – Topçatan village – Çevirme village route should be followed. Ascents to Little Mount Ararat can only be made from the northwest. The easiest and most frequently followed route in terms of communication and transportation is the southern route.
